The 2024 Virginia Queer Film Festival recently announced the 2024 film selections and schedule for the second annual festival September 20-22 on the campus of Old Dominion University.
The second annual festival lineup features narrative, documentary, and short films from around the world. It is only one of a handful of such events in the South that showcase original works of film by, for, and about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, and queer people.
“This year we have a full docket of 40 films with submissions from seven countries featuring original offerings that are representative of a diverse international LGBTQ+ experience,” said Eric Hause, President and Festival Director.
In addition to the screenings, Festival programming includes audience talkbacks with filmmakers, workshops, social events, and an awards ceremony on day three.
“Independent festivals like ours are especially important for queer filmmakers because they give burgeoning creators an opportunity to get their work in front of audiences,” said Hause. “And myself and our Board of Directors are excited to make Norfolk and especially Old Dominion University our home of a Festival with international scope.”
