Hi friends,
If you are viewing this page, it’s because you were invited to join Outlife757 in speaking out against Armed Services Brewing Company’s homophobic and misogynistic behavior and statements both prior to and during their efforts to open a production facility and taproom in the former O’Connor’s Brewing location on 25th Street in Norfolk.
PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THIS PRIVATE PAGE AND PASSWORD WITH OTHERS.Â
If you’d like me to invite someone on your behalf, please ask them to email me with a request to join so I can vet them (HA! see what I did there?).
We are in the process of formulating a plan of action to combat these efforts and ensure that they know they are not welcome here. I believe the place to start is to contact ASBC’s retailers in the area and let them know about this behavior and how we feel about it.
In Virginia, ASBC only has 19 retailers of their products and they are all in Hampton Roads. You have no doubt patronized many of them.
I have put together a spreadsheet of all these locations, their owners, addresses, web sites, and emails that I could find. It’s amazing (and terrifying) what two hours of internet research can reveal!

I have also put together a sample email/letter that you can send to each with an ask that they reconsider offering ASBC products and generally enumerating the reasons why. Feel free to personalize this in any way you see fit, particularly if you have been a frequent patron or even know the owners.

And, finally, here’s an attachment with screen shots of some of their antics as of late. If you have any others I can add, send them on!

NEXT STEPS:
Ideas that are floating around are:
- Make sure we show up in force at every City meeting where their license is discussed. I am working with Andria to get a list of times and dates. We need to show up a la Hershee Bar and be heard!
- How about a Pride Parade down 25th Street on the day of their Grand Opening?
- Now’s the time to resurrect our efforts to form a Human Rights Commission in Norfolk.
- Report this business (and possibly any business on our list that does not boycott ASBC) to the Navy to be added to their “do not patronize” list.
Send me yours. Let’s get this party started.
