The LGBT Life Center and Florida-based CAN Community Health have settled a $1.1 million lawsuit.
The settlement resolves a lawsuit brought by CAN in 2023 in which the health care provider claimed it was owed money for a failed 340B Drug Pricing Program. The federal program allows entities to help low-income and uninsured patients with pharmaceutical drug costs.
The LGBT Life Center contested those claims, asserting that CAN had breached their agreement first and caused financial harm to the Center allegedly amounting to $3.2 million in losses. The Life Center’s attorneys also alleged that CAN engaged in “bad faith self-dealing” and a conspiracy to steal patients and undermine the program.
The exact dollar figure of the settlement was not made public and it is not clear whether the settlement included non-monetary. Whether the settlement fully resolved all claims between the parties or left some issues open is also not publicly confirmed.
