One September 5, the LGBT Life Center proudly celebrated the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of its newest state-of-the-art facility at 20 Settlers Landing Road in Hampton, Virginia. This event marks a significant milestone in the center’s 35-year history of serving Hampton Roads and furthers its mission to provide accessible and comprehensive health and community services across the region.

The opening of the Hampton facility coincides with the expansion of services, including the launch of a full-service clinic, in Norfolk. This achievement was made possible through the collaborative efforts of federal, state, and local funding, with critical support from U.S. Rep. Bobby Scott and federal and state agencies. Their leadership and advocacy were instrumental in securing the resources needed to bring these projects to life.

Nearly 200 guests attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, including elected officials, local supporters, donors, LGBT Life Center staff and board members, local LGBTQ+ groups, community members, current and prospective patients, and the media. Among the distinguished attendees were Delegate Phil Hernandez, state Sen. Aaron Rouse, Delegate Shelly Simonds, and Delegate Jeion Ward. The ceremony featured remarks from Cindy Walters, Rep. Scott, Hampton Mayor Donnie Tuck, Newport News Mayor Philip Jones, Delegate Marcia Price, and Stacie Walls, CEO of LGBT Life Center. Each reflected on the importance of this expansion and its role in the community.

In response to recent events and the current societal climate, LGBT Life Center has implemented additional safety measures to ensure a secure and welcoming environment for all who visit the new facility.

“This new facility is not just a building; it’s a beacon of hope and support for our community,” said Stacie Walls. “We are deeply grateful to all who helped make this possible, and we are excited to continue our mission of building health equity the Hampton Roads LGBTQ+ community and beyond.”

The new location features a fully equipped clinic, an on-site pharmacy, a Pride Pantry, and dedicated spaces for community groups and staff—all under one roof. Attendees of the event were given guided tours of the facility, showcasing the wide range of services and resources now available to the community.
