A ribbon-cutting was held on July 29 at the official opening of the CAN Community Health Clinic. The HIV and general health care organization has relocated to a new facility at 6315 North Center Drive, Suite 100 in Norfolk adjacent to Sentara Leigh Hospital.

The clinic moved from its previous location in March, a cramped office space in the Fort Tar building at 1000 Monticello Ave. The new 6,516 sq. ft. clinical campus space features on-site prescriptions, onsite lab services, 11 examining rooms, and abundant parking.

“There are so many individuals that don’t know that services like ours are there available for them,” Dr. Patel told 13 News Now. “They either go to the health department where they have to wait, or they go to the hospital system where they have to wait.”

Although CAN’s primary mission is to provide testing and medical care for those living with HIV, the clinic also offers PrEP and Doxy PEP services, STI testing, telehealth, general dentistry, pharmacy, and behavioral health services, ensuring accessible patient-centered support for those in need.

CAN patients are seen and treated with same day care, and services will be extended to the entire Hampton Roads Community. For those without transportation CAN will provide free Lyft rides to and from the clinic.
