Pride month rolls on Hampton Hampton Roads with several events scheduled through the weekend. As if you have any room left on your June calendar, here’s what’s happening and where.
Hampton Roads Pride Weekend comes roaring back on Friday, June 20 at 7 PM with the ‘Neon Dreams’ Block Party at The NorVa, featuring Vanessa Vanjie, RuPaul’s Drag Race royalty, and an electrifying kickoff to the weekend with 6 local DJs.
Festivities continue on Saturday, June 21 with the 37th Annual PrideFest at Town Point Park beginning at noon and running until 7. Pop powerhouse and headliner DEV brings her genre-blending hits to the heart of Norfolk.
Pride at the Beach takes place on Sunday, June 22, 2 – 11 PM, with headliner Big Freedia, the Queen of Bounce, who brings her unmatched energy to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
Pride in the ‘Peake kicks off at 10 AM and runs until 5 PM at Chesapeake City Park at 900 City Park Dr.
Vivian Deveraux Valentine returns with a much larger role this year, serving as line dance instructor and host to a full lineup of talent curated and produced by The Full Package Contest featuring Red Stapler Duo kicking things off in the morning!
Several events are planned for the final weekend of Pride month as well.
Pride Night at the Zoo is rescheduled for June 27, 5-8:30 PM at the Virginia Zoo and is a wild, age-inclusive way to celebrate Pride. Join your favorite friends, queens, and allies! Enjoy after-hours access to exhibits, greet awesome animal ambassadors, shop our Pride-themed market, get to know some incredible local organizations and resources, dance your heart out to a local DJ’s tunes, and enjoy a rainbow of various activities throughout this all-ages event.
